Sports have been an integral part of my life since the beginning of time, from playing football as a kid to playing basketball at one of the UK’s top academies throughout my teenage years. My first memories of running date back to my school days where I’d seek out opportunities to compete in cross country and athletics events purely as a means to skip my lessons.
The goal was never to become a runner though. Running found me after falling short on my dreams to become a professional basketball player, providing me with an outlet to channel all the energy that I had been putting into basketball for almost a decade prior. What started as a way to keep fit became something much greater than that, and I haven’t looked back since.
What I love most about running is the purity of the sport. It doesn’t rely on talent or natural ability, all it takes to get better is a bit of hard work, determination and relentless consistency. And when you pair that with doing the right things in your training, you have the recipe to make incredible progress in this sport.
I’ve learnt so much over the past few years and have had great success in my own running journey so far, including personal bests of 2:36 in the marathon and 1:13 in the half marathon. Then with that coupled with my work as a personal trainer, offering my services as a running coach felt like the next logical step to make. It’s a great feeling knowing that I can combine my passion for running with my ability to coach and have a positive impact on people’s lives in doing so. The joy of helping somebody achieve their goals never gets old and it’s exactly why I love doing what I do.
